Phocle Ridge Reviews

We have a lovely stay at Phocle Ridge. Very comfortable for the two of us with easy access to the Wye Valley. Loved the hot tub. Thank you.
We had a lovely stay at Phocle Ridge. It is a real home from home and the views are amazing. Carolyn and David are friendly and accommodating people who are on hand if you need anything but otherwise leave you to it. It is extremely quiet at night and there is almost no light pollution which allowed us to sit out under the stars in the hot tub after long days exploring the surrounding area. WiFi is a bit sketchy but who cares! 4G is strong enough to get by without it. We would happily return.
Shirley
Lovely cottage, very quiet and peaceful surroundings. Great location near to Ross and the Forest of Dean. Owners very friendly and on hand to show you around. Hot tub was great too! Would recommend!
Lovely place, gorgeous view, well placed for trips out! Will keep on coming!
Melinda
Phocle Ridge is a great place to stay. Carolyn and David are lovely and helpful. A problem with the hot tub was quickly resolved and we used it a lot. Its a short journey to Ross on Wye where we ate at The Royal and Tweet Kitchen both of which we can recommend. There are lovely places within a half hour drive but we also spent a lot of time relaxing at the cottage. There was some machinery noise in the adjacent field a couple of afternoons but it is the countryside. The Moody Cow just up the road where we had 3 meals was outstanding. We would definitely holiday there again.

Delightful cottage in a fabulous area in the countryside beds very comfy and settee as well was greeted by the owner who showed you round property and was very helpful small tv but not an issue and fridge door needs adjusting which was quite annoying all in all a great place to visit

Fantastic stay! The views from the property are stunning, the property is beautifully decorated and plenty big enough for us and our labrador. The hot tub was fab. David and Carolyn were excellent hosts! It's a fab location to get around the area with lots of lovely walks nearby! We will absolutely be returning one day, we wish we had more time there, 2 days just wasn't enough, we loved it!
Our stay was amazing from start to finish. The views were beautiful, my granddaughter loved the horses visiting in the adjacent field. The hot tub was a welcome addition, the owners were lovely, we'll definitely be coming back.
We had a lovely time at the cottage. The most peaceful place we have ever stayed in .David and Carolyn were lovely hosts we were blessed with lovely weather Perfect.
Our stay at the cottage was a truly wonderful experience. I would highly recommend it for couples, families, and guests with pets. The property was exceptionally clean, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. While I would gladly give this cottage a fivestar rating, the only drawback was the inconsistency of the hot water, which occasionally dipped or turned completely cold. If this issue is addressed, the cottage would absolutely merit a full five starsespecially with the added bonus of the amazing and incredibly comfortable jacuzzi.
Everything that is needed for a comfortable relaxing stay, was easily available. The owners of Phocle Ridge, are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The Ridge is very clean and well thought out, so all needs are met. The views are spectacular and we used the hottub nearly every day. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely return.
Lorraine
Had a lovely week in this beautiful cottage with stunning views. On arrival we were met by Caroline who was very friendly and made us feel at home straight away. Thankyou for the welcome pack too, much appreciated. The cottage was very clean, well equipped and had a lot of homely touches, including fresh flowers. There are lots of lovely places to visit in the neighbouring areas and after a busy day we enjoyed relaxing in the huge hot tub before settling to our evening meal. Thankyou Caroline and David, we have really enjoyed our holiday at Phocle Ridge.
The cottage was lovely, warm, clean and comfortable. The hosts are lovely people and quickly sorted out the couple of issues we had ie hot tub temperature and provision of a hair dryer. If you are taking a dog there are no walks directly from the cottage which is surrounded by fields occupied by horses. Also we have a small dog that managed to escape the enclosed garden by going between the conifer hedge. We advised Carolyn and Im sure this will be sorted to ensure dog safety. We had a very nice relaxing few days exploring the local area.
Lauren
We had a lovely stay here, it was the best way to celebrate the new year! Everywhere was so clean and they really thought of everything! Looking forward to coming back in summer!
We had the best time! The cottage is beautiful, homely with lovely extra touches. Carolyn let us in showed us round! The house was decorated for Christmas still 28th31st dec with a beautifully lit tree. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch and just everything about the cottage was exactly what we needed. The hot tub was fab on a cold night and with no light pollution at night we could see the stars! Dog secure, and Ruby loved the outside areas! Our food delivery came and hour early and Carolyn put it all away for us which we were super grateful for! Cottage was spotless and warm. The WiFi was fast enough, the hot water great and water pressure a little low it is a cottage in the middle of a teeny village and we are used to fast WiFi and water! but didnt cause us any issues with showerswashing pots etc. the hot tub is a large one and is around the back of the property, very private! We explored Symonds Yak, Forest of Dean and popped over the to the Welsh border to visit Tintern. Super happy here and would return! Thanks for making the post Christmas lul a fabulous one! The Clancys xx
The property is in a good spot, we had a lovely relaxing stay, and despite the weather's best efforts! The place was really clean and tidy, and the hosts very welcoming! We had a lovely time and will likely stay here again! Hopefully with less flooding next time.

This is a wonderful get away base in a beautiful location with wonderful views of the countryside. The owners have paid meticulous attention to detail for guests & thought of everything to ensure a comfortable stay. There are plenty of lovely walks around as well as local towns to visit. The evenings are so welcoming spent in the hot tub in the sunset and the cottage just wraps its arms around you so cosily to nestle down for the night in peace and quiet. David and Carolyn the property owners are very approachable and accessible too. Thoroughly recommend this spacious accommodation, it really is a gem.
Lovely stay in a great location. The property was very comfortable, furnished to an high standard and had everything we needed. We were met by Carolyn who showed us round, was contactable during our stay and offered some local tips for visits, food etc. Very quiet and relaxing and we loved watching the two pairs of red kites flying very close over the fields. Grateful for the welcome package too, thank you.
We had a wonderful week at this beautiful cottage. Very clean and spacious with lovely views over the hills. Hosts live in the farm house next door and were very welcoming on arrival. Great outside space for the dog including a grassed area for them to run about in. Plus added bonus of an outside covered kennel should you need it. Great hot tub and little summer house. Lots to do , even out of season! Forest walks, castles, towns Short drive into Ross on Wye where they have at least 2 high speed chargers for those needing an EV charger Would definitely recommend for couples or friends with a pet. Would love to return.

Pros Lovely view, location, hosts, clean cottage with amazing hot tub, comfortable parking space. Washing machine was available. Cons Kitchen sink tap, shower head were poor quality. Water system was not great. Not easy to work out how to balance the water. I was getting either very hot water or cold from the taps. No dishwasher. To access to the hot tub, needing to go out of the property.
A perfect base in a beautiful part of the country. Delightful hosts, everything was there for us. The hot tub was heavenly. We will certainly visit again, thank you

We have just had a 4 night stay in this lovely cottage with amazing views over the open country side. The cottage has everything you need for a home from home feel. Exceptionally clean and it was perfect for our little dog. The hot tub was great and very private. The new owners were most welcoming and the little welcome basket with the bottle of Prosecco was much appreciated. We would definitely return and would highly recommend it. Thank you
Fantastic bungalow, spacious, very clean and good attention to detail I could happily live here! Caroline the owner was happy to help with anything!
We've never before returned to a holiday rental, but this was our second year at Phocle Ridge, having booked for this year immediately after leaving last year. Carolyn and David have created a beautiful home from home in an excellent location and couldn't be more welcoming. The cottage has everything we need and provides a base for easily visiting Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Wales in addition to easy access to a number of lovely golf courses.

We have just returned home from a great 2 night stay, this property is outstanding, clean and pet friendly our dog loved it. There was a lovely welcome back left which included a bottle of Prosecco, which we enjoyed in the hot tub, biscuits and snacks. There was a BBQ, summer house to relax and the place was well equipped with all essentials. The views are amazing and there are lots of places to visit in the area, I would highly recommend and will be returning.
We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable. The outside areas were lovely and safe for our son. The hot tub was great. The view was beautiful and we plan to revisit the area again soon. We found Carolyn and David to be welcoming and friendly and they offered us some good tips on places to eat. We hope to book another stay soon.
All very good except toilet is very low for the more elderly client. The owners are very helpful and friendly 1010
